I feel I am so far away
Such distance from the page
That I am outside the lines
And unable to draw myself in
Am I that estranged from the society I know and perceive
Or just another sailor without a compass
wandering the sea searching for the meaning of me
No man is an island
Is what I hear and what they say
For better or worse I seem
Able to return to randomness in me
I remember somehow today
And the yesteryear of before
Being awake but somehow asleep
To see myself from up close
As if from a strangers eye
I venture so far in the twilight
Not to see where I am going
And to no one I belong tonight
Another vacancy for randomness
That clings and holds to me
I am always hoping and
For some reason reaching out
But they do not contemplate
My desire in desperately seeking
My true self and not just mirages
well journey of life… 🙂

Lovely poem. I love Paul Simon’s song ‘I am a rock’, do you know it? One of my Dad’s favs. I like the sense of being remote from yourself.Oh, I came here from Jingle’s Poetry Rally.
I will def have to listen to that song and post something tomorrow about my vibe—stay tuned
I agree… The ending is really the power of this piece (given what comes before it). I enjoyed your write. Thanks for sharing. Be Inspired Today! Love and Light, Sender
I’ve yet to tell truth from mirages most of the time 🙂
love the first four lines–the idea of being “outside the lines” and unable to draw oneself “in.” makes one think of where “in” really is…
Yes, those opening lines are great. I think the true self changes just a bit by experiences so we have to keep searching for it anew.
the ongoing process of self-discovery… beautifully written!!!
Loved the last line the MOST… it was the perfect end to this poem…
what we really need is the real “I”, and not just mirages … lovely!
I like your questioning.
Very good and thoughtful x

Yes, the extra traffic has kept me busy posting daily. I have enjoyed exploring the other poets and their contributions.
This is a very good poem
Thank you
Thanks for sharing this piece. I love the way you play with the concept you set out in your title. I’m wondering about this line, though: “wondering the sea searching for the meaning of me.” Do you mean “wandering”? It seems likely, but I could see either word choice playing out.
Yes…haha, that is a typo. Thanks for the edit
Such a beautiful poem Eddie..
Thank you!
