I wasn’t meant to be a music man
I left home with twisted songs on my head,
Years of hearing the preacher man,
Have taught me the simple truth
That the inner voice I hear
Is the drum beat keeping me in tune.
The picking I try to demonstrate is the only voice I have grown
I’m going on my own and I will take that small amount of time,
And write to that preacher man and let him know that the lessons he taught me serve me only ill.
I am taking that long road to my future
And to that gospel I am writing
A hymn to only the past,
That I am writing my future in these
Lyrics to hear.
